Subject: Get Other Writers To Do Your Work For
You, Free! (2 of 2)

Want a head start on writing advertisements?

It pays to have a swipe file of creative
advertising ideas that you can refer to whenever
youre stumped.

Spend a little time looking for existing ads in
your medium. If you write sales letters, read a
lot of sales letters and pick out the words and
ideas that jump out at you.

If you can afford a subscription to a site like
PressDisplay.com, do it. Its a bit like buying
subscriptions to every midsized paper in the
country at once.

If a comics store or convention is nearby, go
sifting through the bargain bin for really old
comics the ads in these comics were very well
targeted, high budget, and depended on an
immediate response.

The older the better you want text based ads,
not the full page image ads. If you see The
Incredible Hulk selling Hostess pies, youre on
the right track.

And if you live in a larger city, you can head to
the library.

Youll be surprised to know that you can still
access the archives of many major papers
(especially local ones) in microfilm.

Even if they look dated, theyre still very
worthwhile. Especially since these ads were being
placed before the whole newspapers go into a
tailspin thing happened.

Look for consistency.

If an ad runs in the same spot over an extended
period of time, chances are its doing well.

But lets say you dont want to get up from the
computer and want a collection of sales material
that you can use online or offline?

Stay tuned, youre REALLY going to want to see
what I give you next.
